Adding a custom vinyl decal to your boat is a fantastic way to personalize your vessel and make it stand out on the water. At Oasis Marine & Auto, we specialize in high-quality, weather-resistant vinyl graphics tailored to your unique style. Whether it's your boat's name, registration numbers, or a custom logo, our design team is here to assist you from concept to installation.
Materials You'll Need:
*Measuring tape
*Masking tape
*Squeegee or credit card
*Ruler or straightedge
*Scissors
*Isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner (Starke Surface Prep works great)
*Lint-free cloth
Installation Steps:
1. Prepare the Surface:
Clean the area where the decal will be applied. Use isopropyl alcohol or a mild cleaner to remove any dirt, grease, or wax. Wipe the surface with a lint-free cloth and let it dry completely.
2. Measure and Mark:
Use measuring tape to find the desired placement of your decal. Ensure that the area is flat and free from curves to avoid misalignment. Mark the center and edges lightly with a pencil or masking tape.
3. Position the Decal:
Peel the backing off the decal and position it over the marked area. Use masking tape to temporarily hold it in place. Double-check alignment before proceeding.
4. Apply the Decal:
Starting from the center, use a squeegee or credit card to press the decal onto the surface, working outward to remove any air bubbles. Apply firm, even pressure to ensure full adhesion.
5. Remove Transfer Tape:
Carefully peel away the transfer tape at a 45-degree angle. If any part of the decal lifts, press it back down and re-squeegee.
6. Final Touches:
Inspect the decal for any remaining air bubbles. Use a pin to puncture and flatten them out. Allow the decal to set for 24 hours before exposing it to water or harsh conditions.
Tips for Success:
*Ensure the surface temperature is between 50°F and 80°F for optimal adhesion.
*Avoid installing decals in direct sunlight or on windy days.
*If applying to a freshly painted surface, wait at least 30 days for the paint to cure.
